Travis Japan, a J-pop trio, was among the many great contestants who auditioned for the 17th season of America’s Got Talent (AGT). The judges and live audience were enthralled by the dance group’s coordinated routines and diverse personalities. AGT participants are a group of seven. They started in 2012 under the guidance of American choreographer Travis Payne.

Travis Japan is a song and dance entertainment group managed by Johnny & Associates, a prominent Japanese talent agency. In 2012, they were in Johnny’s junior unit and made their stage debut as youngsters when they auditioned for famous American choreographer Travis Payne.

Nakada Hiroki, Abe Aran, Morita Myuto and Kajiyama Asahi are former members of the group. During its formation in 2012, the group was split into two groups: Ani-gumi (an older sibling group consisting of Nakada, Kawashima, Morita, and Shimekake) and Otouto-gumi (a younger sibling group consisting of Yoshizawa, Nakamura, Abe, Miyachika, Kajiyama) . Initially only performing for Playzone, the two teams were hired as dancers for Konda Masahiko’s 35th anniversary tour in 2015.
They played as a nine-piece at Johnny’s Ginza in 2016. They were praised for their incredible enthusiasm and dancing skills. However, after Abe Aran announced his decision to leave the group, they continued to perform as an 8-piece dance group. Nakada left in January 2017 to explore other opportunities, and the group grew to seven dancers. Morito and Kaiyama decided to quit after encountering various obstacles, leaving the group with only five members. However, they performed at Johnny’s Jr. Wangan LIVE on November 18, 2017 with two new dancers, Matsuda Gento and Matsukura Kaito. Since then, the ensemble has performed with all seven members.
The AGT contestants were chosen to develop their careers in Hollywood and hone their skills as performers in late March 2022. Since then, they have been in Los Angeles, where they take daily singing, dancing and English lessons. The AGT J-pop group also competed in the 2022 Orange County World of Dance Championship Series, finishing third in the team division and winning awards for best costume and crowd favorite. Their graphics, costumes and acrobatics delighted the audience.
Travis Japan has 841,000 followers on Instagram, where they routinely broadcast their group dance performances, training sessions and promotional activities. Over the years, they performed several times in Japan. Talk! Make It!, The Show, Unique Tigers, Free Your Mind, Together Now, Big Bang Boy and many others are among the group’s original works.
