- In 2018, he and his father Vijayakumar got into a legal tussle over family property. According to Vanita, she was living at her mother’s house since her mother’s death and her father had asked her to vacate the house. His father also stopped him from shooting and pressured him to leave the house. A case was registered against Vijayakumar at the local police station in Maduravoyal for not vacating the house which he claimed as his. Vanitha later alleged that she and her crew members were beaten up by the policeman and thrown out of their house.
- In 2017, it was reported that his daughter Jayanita was kidnapped. When Vanita and her second husband, Rajan Anand, got divorced, it was decided that their daughter, Jayanita, would live with her father from Monday to Friday and with him on weekends. But, in the first week of April in 2017, Vanita took her daughter with her but did not return for a whole week. Later, a case was filed against her but she did not return the child even after being given a deadline by the court. After a debate, the court gave full custody of Jayanita to her father.

- In 2010, Vanitha filed a case against her father, mother and brother for attacking her when she tried to take her children back home. Reportedly, her children had gone to their parents’ house to celebrate Diwali. Her father was so drunk that he did not allow his children to return home and when she tried to do so, her brother assaulted her and her husband.
