Early life
Ueli Steck was born in Langnau im Emmental, Switzerland, in the October 4, 1976. At the age of 40, passed away and had the birth sign of Libra. He has Swiss nationality although his ethnicity is unknown.

Career
At the age of 17, Ueli Steck ascended to the ninth level of difficulty (UIAA). At age 18 he climbed the north face of the Eiger and the Bonatti Pillar on Mont Blanc. In June 2004, he and Stephan Siegrist climbed the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau in less than 25 hours.
Furthermore, in 2007 he achieved his first speed record on the north face of the Eiger, climbing it in 3 hours and 54 minutes. The following year, she beat her own record by 2 hours, 47 minutes and 33 seconds. In 2008, she stopped climbing Mount Annapurna due to an avalanche danger.
Steck participated in “Project Himalaya”, an initiative to climb all 82 Himalayan peaks over 4,000 metres. His goal was to achieve this without using supplemental oxygen and within five years.

Awards
Steck earned the Eiger Prize in 2008 for his climbing efforts, and received the Piolet d’Or, the “Oscar of Mountaineering,” twice, in 2009 and 2014, for his first solo ascent of Annapurna. In 2010 he won the Karl Unterkircher award for his versatility in climbing. He won the National Geographic Adventurer of the Year Award in 2015.
