Scott Peterson’s re-sentencing, 19 years after he murdered Laci Peterson and her unborn child, turned out to be a sad affair, as Laci’s family made emotionally shocking statements. Laci’s family criticized Scott for his apparent lack of remorse and mourned the loss of the vibrant 27-year-old Laci. One name also appeared in almost every impact statement: Amber Frey.
Amber and Scott had a short-term relationship in the month after Laci’s murder. Scott told Amber that he was looking to settle down after ‘losing’ his wife. After discovering that Scott’s wife was missing, Amber denounced the relationship and helped prosecutors charge and convict the ruthless killer.

After her inevitable breakup with Scott Pearson, Amber Frey began dating her longtime friend, Dr. David Markovich, in 2003. The couple welcomed Amber’s second child, Justin Dean, before going their separate ways.
In 2005, Amber launched Witness: For the prosecution of Scott Peterson, a revealing book about his involvement in the arrest and conviction of Scott Peterson. The book’s description glosses over the pain he experienced in past relationships:
“Amber had been through some unhappy relationships and longed for a true and loving partner. In November 2002, she went on a blind date with Scott Peterson. He was handsome, charming, considerate, and romantic. Best of all, he was single and ready to settle down…or so she said.”
In 2006, Amber found a man to settle down with: Robert Hernandez, who, luckily, worked as a law enforcement officer. However, the marriage was short-lived as it ended in divorce in 2008.
As the murder of Laci Peterson slowly faded from memory and media headlines, Amber Frey gradually withdrew from the public spotlight.
Frey, who was a massage therapist when she met Scott, continued her profession, eventually opening Euphoria Day Spa in California. Amber closed in 2015 after filing for bankruptcy.
Amber is still a massage therapist in California and leads a normal life. She describes herself as a ‘Public Figure’ on her Instagram page, which contains numerous photos from her travels.
Amber has expressed her willingness to testify if Scott Peterson gets a new trial.
“I understand why most people here think he’s guilty,” said Pat Harris, Scott’s defense attorney. “But it’s not a set of facts that we believe to be true.”
Judge Anne-Christine Massulo re-sentenced Scott to life without parole in early December 2021. However, Scott could still get a new trial if his lawyers prove jury misconduct during his original trial.
Peterson’s attorneys allege that juror Richelle Nice misled the court by not disclosing that she was a victim of domestic violence when she was pregnant. pat harris said Today that he is “cautiously optimistic” that Scott will get a new trial.
Former prosecutor Michele Hagan said KRON4 that “there is a very high probability” that Scott will get a new trial. Michele added:
“Miss Nice was a victim of domestic violence while she was pregnant. I think it’s really hard for someone who’s been through that experience to put that aside and sit on a jury in a case when it’s about another woman who may have been killed by her husband while she was pregnant. ”
Amber Frey pays close attention to the evolution of the Scott Peterson case. After the California Supreme Court vacated Scott’s sentence but upheld his conviction, Frey sent a statement to foxnews expressing satisfaction at the court’s decision to uphold the guilty verdict.
Upon learning of Scott’s attorneys’ plans to secure a new trial for his client, Frey, through his attorney Gloria Allred, expressed his intention to testify again against Scott. allred said KPIX:
“Amber has said that the truth is the truth. So if that’s when the court decides to grant Scott Peterson’s habeas corpus petition and decides there needs to be a new trial, otherwise, not just in the death penalty phase but essentially in the main case. The guilt phase. She is willing to testify and she will.”
Allred added that Amber is not “waiting to be a witness in a high-profile case” but will appear in the interest of justice. Frey’s summary of the book described her intent to find justice for Laci regardless of the scrutiny she endured:
“Amber’s whole world was turned upside down in the process. She lost her privacy, every detail of her life was scrutinized by the media, which seemed to not get enough of this tragic and heartbreaking story. But she kept going, looking deep within herself and drawing strength from her faith.”
