Swifties in Nashville, Tennessee, hosted a tribute to Taylor Swift’s late grandmother, Marjorie, during a recent stop at her tour of eras. However, the decision is generating a lot of controversy among fans online.
On Friday night (May 5), Taylor’s fans snapped photos of Marjorie as the 33-year-old singer performed the Increasingly track that bears his name.
Taylor referred to the tribute as “so beautiful” at the time, explaining that her grandmother was also an artist before she died.
While it looks like she appreciated the photos, Swifties online wonder if she was in any good shape.

“What are they trying to do to me?” Taylor asked fans at the venue, according to Billboard. She added that her mother was probably “like crying” after the photos were taken.
Taylor said it was “so meaningful and so special” to her. However, could he have had any other answer? That’s the question some Swifties are asking, and they think surprising her with a photo of her late grandmother might have been the trigger for the pop titan.
“Everyone says ‘Taylor clearly liked this’… Do you realize that if Taylor had reacted negatively, she would be crucified for it? she thus put her in a weird position in front of tens of thousands of people watching,” said one fan. noted on Twitter.
Someone according to the tweetwriting that the decision was “so out of character” and that they “feel so bad about [Taylor].”
“Since this Marjorie is a deceased relative of Taylor Swift, this is actually one of the most abominable things I’ve ever seen a fan do, I don’t even care if she appreciated it, how the hell does she do it? This is going through your mind.” another twitter user wanted to know.
Still another concerned Swiftie wrote that they would “have a mental breakdown and throw my microphone in someone’s face” if they were in a similar situation.
Some fans wondered if it would turn into a contest to make Taylor cry during the performance with concertgoers constantly trying to outdo one another. One even worried that would cause the song to be removed from the track listing.
“Those who participated in #projectmarjorie were a different kind of weird. You could have shown pictures of your loved one posing as “you” Marjorie. Not photos of a stranger. Taylor Swift doesn’t know all of them. It’s like a contest of who can make her cry… she just stops. Ew,” another user tweeted.
“Anytime there’s a line, hardcore Swifties cross it. This isn’t remotely cool, and it’s honestly a little scary. Poor Taylor. 🥺 It’s one thing to be a fan, but it’s another thing to pretend you’re his close and personal friend. She deserves privacy and respect.” someone wrote.
Taylor was in Nashville for three shows, all of which were attended by celebrities.
