Travis Kelce’s Father Ed Speaks Out About Super Bowl Parade Shooting

Less than a week after the Kansas City Super Bowl parade shooting took place, Travis Kelce’s father, Ed, is speaking out about the terrifying event.

During his appearance on the Australian show Today is the show On Monday, February 19, Ed said he didn’t go to Kansas City for the parade. His ex-wife, Donna, was there with Travis. “But the people who were there, as soon as he started, made sure to contact me and let me know that no one I knew was hurt.”

Travis Kelce’s father also said it was “a shame” that the shooting took place during an exciting event honoring the Kansas City Chiefs’ big Super Bowl victory. Shortly after the Chiefs players left the scene of the demonstration, shots were fired near Union Station. More than 20 parade-goers were injured in the incident. One person, local DJ Lisa López-Galván, died.

Three suspects were. detained and two of them were confirmed as minors. Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced that the two juveniles were charged with resisting arrest and other weapons charges. Due to Missouri law regarding juvenile court cases, their identities remain private.

Speaking about the tragic shooting, Jason and Travis Kelce spoke about the incident during the latest episode of their new heights podcast.

“We have a pre-recorded episode for you on Wednesday,” Travis explained. “But after the tragic events of the Super Bowl parade in Kansas City, I didn’t feel right without you hearing from us first.”

Jason then stated, “We just wanted to say that our hearts go out to all the victims, their families, Chiefs Kingdom, and really all of Kansas City that was really there on a day to try to celebrate the community. “It is unfortunate and deeply tragic the events that occurred.”

Jason and Travis Kelce’s message also had a tie-in to the United Way of Greater Kansas City, which has raised more than $860,000.

“Funds raised will first and foremost go towards supporting the victims and their families,” the charity said. “We always say Kansas City is the biggest small city in America. “This is their way of supporting their neighbors who have been directly affected by this senseless violence.”

The charity also made a statement about the horrific incident. “We woke up champions hoping to celebrate a triumphant day. Instead, February 14 will be remembered for its tragedy. “This moment is an opportunity to turn our collective outrage into action.”

It was then noted that the Chiefs and United Way are creating a special emergency fund to support our community. The funds will be used to heal and make the community more resilient following these horrific events.
