During Operation Ganga, from 27 February 2022 to 7 March 2022, Mahasweta Chakraborty flew six sorties from India to Ukraine and back as part of a special military operation by India immediately after Russia invaded Ukraine on 24 February 2022. Reportedly, Mahasweta Chakraborty flew the Airbus A320 for 13. Up to 14 hours a day. He rescued more than 800 Indian students from the border in Ukraine, Poland and Hungary. While talking to a media house, Mahasweta Chakraborty narrated the experience of her rescue operation in March 2022.
It was the experience of a lifetime, rescuing students in their late teens and early twenties, many of whom had fallen ill and had tragic stories of survival.
Mahasweta Chakraborty said that she is proud to be a part of Operation Ganga Mission. He said,
I salute their fighting spirit and am extremely proud to have played my role in their journey home.”
Mahasweta Chakraborty further said that she received a call late night on 26 February 2022 from her employer company who informed her that she has been selected for the Indian rescue operation amid the Russia-Ukraine war. Mahasweta Chakraborty said that she then left for the rescue operation within two hours of the call.

Vande Bharat Mission
During the COVID-19 pandemic in India, Mahasweta Chakraborty was part of the Vande Bharat Mission, which was launched by the Government of India to bring back Indians stranded abroad due to the COVID-19 lockdown that began in India on 7 May 2020. Amidst this mission, Mahasweta Chakraborty was given the responsibility of flying oxygen concentrators from abroad to India. She also carried COVID-19 vaccines from Pune airports to Kolkata.
