Thus, he replaced the injured Teoscar Hernández. The Astros optioned him back down as Marisnick, on May 1, 2017.

It was their first home game after Hurricane Harvey. Eventually, he won the 2017 World Series, their first-ever championship title.
The Astros optioned Kemp back to Fresno, in March 2018. Similarly, he was called upon on May 16 to replace Jake Marisnick.
He received wide sports media coverage for making a leaping catch against the left-field wall on a ball hit. It was in the 3rd game of the 2018 ALCS.
