In the same year, he was named First Team All-SEC. He played collegiate summer baseball with the Cotuit Kettleers, in 2012. In 2013, he was named an All-American and the SEC Baseball Player of the Year.

In the fifth round of the 2013 MLB draft, he was selected by the Astros. Finally, he began the season with the Corpus Christi Hooks of the Class AA Texas League, in 2015.

Fortunately, he received a midseason promotion to the Fresno Grizzlies of the Class AAA Pacific Coast League. Also, he appeared in the 2015 All-Star Futures Game.

On May 16, he began the 2016 season with Fresno and was promoted to the major leagues. Additionally, on June 25, 2016, he was optioned to Fresno.

In addition, he was recalled to the Astros, on August 7, 2016. He and Jake Marisnick were platooned in centerfield. As a center fielder, Carlos Gomes was designated for assignment.
