There is a moment of ‘The Little Mermaid’ that has many doubts about whether it is a princess Catherine Diss

A report is circulating online that some take as an insult to Princess Catherine (aka Kate Middleton), while others just think it’s a big coincidence.

The source who reportedly saw the film told Page Six about the moment in particular, saying: “Ariel has sacrificed her voice to get to the surface and [meet] Prince Eric. She can’t speak, so she tries to guess his name. The first guess of hers is Diana. The second guess of yours is Catherine, but after [Ariel gives a disgusted] reaction, the [concludes] ‘Okay, definitely not Catherine.’

Also, during Meghan and Harry’s explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey, Meghan said that she identified with Ariel in The little Mermaid.

She shared that after her wedding to Harry, “I was sitting in Nottingham Cottage, and The little Mermaid came and who as an adult really looks The little Mermaid? But she showed up and I was like, Well, I’m here all the time. You could also see this. And I said, my God, she falls in love with the prince and that’s why she loses her voice… But in the end she gets her voice back”.

The live-action movie hits theaters on May 26, and we can’t verify if that moment actually happened or if the filmmakers intended to throw some shade… so we’ll have to wait and see!
