Most people assume that Mary and Charlie met on the set of It’s always sunny in Philly. However, the couple met in a New York theater where they both acted in different plays.
According to Mary, the pair clicked instantly. However, Mary admitted in a YouTube interview that it wasn’t a perfect romance;
“The professional response was that we met and thought each other was great, and we had a relationship that was way over the board and classy. The real story is that it is a one night stand that is still going on many years later. So you know, do it, it might work.”
That one-night stand worked out pretty well for Mary and Charlie, and they got married on March 4, 2006. Charlie and Mary are both actors, and it’s easy for them to separate their professional lives from their personal lives. Mary said G.Q. that the couple talks a lot about acting;
“We definitely talk a lot about working at home. It’s a really beautiful and exciting part of our relationship; I can’t imagine myself as an actor or an artist without having someone I can’t talk to about the process. It is really an enrichment for me.”

Before landing the role of ‘The Waitress’ in it’s always sunny, Mary once worked as a waitress in real life. She worked at Skirball in Los Angeles and then at Olive Garden in Burbank. She hated her job at Olive Garden, but she kept working because she helped him pay her fees.
