Camryn and Landon Clifford started their YouTube channel, Cam&Fam, in November 2017 and it was an instant success. The first video was a gender reveal of their first daughter, Collette Briar. The channel showed how Camryn and Landon overcame the trials and joys of being teen parents. His unique content gained legions of fans in a relatively short period as the channel currently has 1.28 million subscribers.
As Collette got older, Camryn and Landon adapted their channel to include family vlogging. It became a full-fledged family channel after the couple married and their second daughter, Delilah Rose, was born.
This piece will look at Landon’s tragic death and the couple’s relationship and family.
Landon recently passed away after being in a coma for six days.
On August 22, 2020, Camryn announced via her Instagram page that Landon had passed away. She said Landon died six days after slipping into a coma on Aug. 13. Camryn did not detail the cause of Landon’s coma, but stated that he “died saving the lives of others.” She added that she suffered a lot and regretted that her husband did not live a full life. Her Instagram post read:
“This is not how things were supposed to be. He was destined to arrive at his next birthday. He was destined to accompany his daughters around the island. He was destined to die old with me. Words cannot come close to describing the pain I feel. All I can do now is make sure our girls know how much you loved us. He looks down on us from heaven and his light will shine through the clouds when we look at him. May he rest in peace.”
We suspect it will be a while before Camryn resumes creating content on YouTube. Landon was a big part of her life and the content the couple used to create. However, that doesn’t mean Camryn will stop creating content. In a June 2020 Q&A, Camryn revealed that she will likely be creating YouTube content for the rest of her life. Landon, on the other hand, had planned to gradually move away from the channel due to his career choice. Camryn said:
“I don’t think I’ll ever stop doing YouTube completely. I don’t think we’ll ever be completely off of YouTube. Maybe in the future we won’t post much… I don’t plan on leaving YouTube completely, at least for a long, long time.”
Camryn and Landon began dating in June 2015, got engaged in June 2018, and married in June 2019.
Camryn and Landon met at the end of the eighth grade. Landon asked Camryn to be his girlfriend in June 2015 and the couple began dating. Three years and a baby later, Landon decided to ask for Camryn’s hand in marriage.
At the time, Camryn was living in Florida while Landon was residing in Texas. Landon didn’t have a proposal plan, but he bought a ring and flew to Florida to spend time with Camryn and Collette. After what Camryn described as “a bit of a horrible day,” the couple had dinner before Landon took Camryn to a romantic spot on the beach.
Camryn could tell something was up because Landon was being too romantic and he seemed nervous. Landon got down on one knee as the couple slowly danced to Ed Sheeran’s beat. Perfect. In hindsight, Camryn felt that Landon’s decision not to film the proposal made the moment more authentic. She explained in a video from early July 2018:
“I’m very glad you didn’t [film the proposal]Because it was just a personal moment that I felt like I wouldn’t want to ruin by having to act a certain way or feeling like I had to plan for the camera. It was something very personal and we are both very… I would not have wanted anyone else there.”
The couple did not film the proposal, but the highlights of their June 2019 wedding, from preparations to the ceremony, were captured on camera and posted on YouTube.
Camryn had a better experience giving birth to Delilah than she did giving birth to Collette
Camryn’s first pregnancy occurred after she failed to follow birth control instructions. She first told her brother about the pregnancy before informing Landon and then her family. It took Landon a while to accept reality, but with time and the support of her family, he embraced Camryn’s pregnancy.
Camryn explained in a December 2017 YouTube video that she never considered abortion, but thought about giving Collette up for adoption. However, he developed an intense love for her daughter and decided to stay with her. Unfortunately, Collette’s birth didn’t go as planned because she arrived seven weeks early. Camryn explained in a February 2020 video:
“Her birth didn’t go as planned at all. She fast-forwarded seven weeks and I saw her for about ten minutes total on her birthday. They transferred her to another hospital and it wasn’t until two days later that I was able to really hug her for the first time… and not only that, I don’t love how they treated me during the whole process. She didn’t love the hospital she was in, I didn’t like my doctor.”
Camryn was better prepared for her second birth and had more say in her health care. She chose not to have a C-section due to the health risks involved and decided to deliver Delilah normally. Camryn knew that another surgical procedure would cause further complications in the delivery, as she wants to have more children in the future.
On May 17, 2020, the happy but frazzled mom posted a series of photos to Instagram of herself and newborn Delilah, attaching the following caption:
“This was such a surreal moment. The feeling of pure happiness immediately after experiencing the most intense pain of my life. It is so enriching to know what my body is capable of; grow up and give birth to such an ancient girl. I fell so unbelievably in love with her the moment our eyes met.”
