F1 race weekend in Emilia-Romagna, Italy postponed due to unprecedented flooding

The upcoming F1 race weekend in Italy has been postponed.

Formula One bosses made the decision to delay the races after the Emilia-Romagna region was hit by extreme weather that led to flooding.

“The decision has been made because it is not possible to carry out the event safely for our fans, the teams and our staff and it is the correct and responsible thing to do in light of the situation that the towns and cities of the region are going through. go through.” F1 shared in a statement, via ESPN. “It would not be right to put more pressure on local authorities and emergency services at this difficult time.”

The outlet added that F1 is looking to run the race later in the 2023 season, however that is unlikely as the rest of the season is packed. Nothing has been confirmed yet.

After the race in Italy, the F1 calendar heads to Monaco and Spain in the coming weeks.
