For Sofía Vergara, home is not where the heart is, but where the demand for 1.7 million dollars is.
As reported by TMZSofia Vergara allegedly failed to pay her contractor more than $1.7 million for a major renovation of her Beverly Hills home, or so the contractor claims.
According to the lawsuit, obtained by TMZhe Modern Family The student hired Reside Custom Homes in April 2022 to renovate her mansion. Vergara’s mansion, located in the Beverly Park neighborhood, is worth $26 million.
RCH has claimed that Vergara agreed to pay for the completed work, but never followed through. According to the contractor, the project was completed in December 2022. However, Vergara requested additional work that was beyond the scope of their agreement. As a result, the work was extended until March 2023, when Vergara returned home.
According to RCH, the star asked the contractor to install clay plaster on three powder rooms, an office, the walls of the dining room, the cabin bathroom and the living room of the guest house. Vergara also wanted RCH to remove and replace a flight of stairs at his home.
The contractor claimed that Vergara “promised” to pay the invoice, including allegedly telling RCH that he had approved an invoice for $900,000 and instructing his financial advisor to pay the invoice. However, RCH says the star defaulted and now owes the contractor $1,700,492.64.

Marty Singer, Sofía Vergara’s lawyer, contacted TMZ to clear the air around the controversy.
Singer says it was actually Sofia who initially sent a demand letter, not RCH. Vergara has claimed the company was liable for $5 million in damages for overcharging him, performing poor work and delaying the project.
Vergara’s attorney says RCH did not dispute the claims, but instead filed its own lawsuit.
Singer remains confident that Sofia will win the case and receive a “significant” payment from RCH.
