Taylor Swift Had a ‘Backup Plan’ for New Album Reveal If She Didn’t Win a Grammy

While the 2024 Grammy stage was a perfect place to announce his eleventh studio album, The Department of Tortured PoetsTaylor Swift had a backup plan for the announcement if she didn’t win any of the event’s awards.

Us Weekly reports that while on stage, Swift shared details about her “Plan B” if things didn’t go well at the Grammys. “Going to the Grammys, going in, I had this plan,” she said during a break in the Increasingly period set. “I had told my friends, I told Jack [Antonoff], but I hadn’t really told many other people. I thought, ‘Okay, if I’m lucky enough to win something tonight, I’ll do it.’ I’m just going to announce my album.’ And fortunately, that ended up happening.”

Taylor Swift then reported the name of her new album before continuing. “My backup plan was to do it tonight in Tokyo,” she declared. “But because of you and your support, I was lucky enough to win a Grammy and tell you about it on the Grammy stage… We can report tonight and talk about it.”

During her acceptance speech at the 2024 Grammys, Swift couldn’t help but praise her fans while also sharing her secret. “[The way I can celebrate] “It is telling you a secret that I have been hiding from you for the last two years, and that is that my new album comes out on April 19,” he said. “Is called The Department of Tortured Poets, and I’m going to post the cover right now backstage.”

Taylor Swift Says She’s Been Working on ‘The Department of Tortured Poets’ Since Turning in ‘Midnights’

As it continues to open on The Department of Tortured Poets At her first Tokoyo show, Taylor Swift shared when she started working on the new album.

“I have been working on Torture Poets since right after I went to bed midnight,” She explained. “An album is delivered months in advance… so I started working on it right after and I’ve been working on it for about two years. I kept working on it throughout the US tour and when it was perfect, in my opinion, when it was good enough for you, I finished it.”

Taylor Swift then told the crowd that she was very excited for them to hear her new music. “We will soon be able to experience that together,” she noted. “I’m delighted with the fact that you care about my music, it still blows me away. I love to do this”.
