During her college years, she was a member of the “Columbia University Lions”, which included all athletic teams at Columbia University, where she was part of the women’s squash team and was coached by Jacques Swanepoel. In her sophomore year, she made history by becoming the first player in the women’s squash program to receive All-America honors and led the Lions to the No. 1 ranking for the season. She also made history by becoming the second player in her program to earn All-Ivy honors. In her junior year, she was one of two Lions to win over the number one player at Yale University and the number one player at Cornell University. She participated in the College Squash Association (CSA) Championships, leading the team as captain and was acknowledged as the team’s Most Valuable Player. In his senior year, he helped lead the team to victory in the CSA Team Championship against Cornell and was awarded the Most Valuable Player award for the second consecutive time.

In 2019, she competed at the Women’s Asian Individual Squash Championships but lost to Joshna Chinappa in the quarterfinals. Tanvi won the gold medal in the women’s singles event at the 2019 South Asian Games held in Lalitpur, Nepal. She was also a member of the Indian women’s national squash team; Sunayana Kuruvilla, Sanya Vats and Urvashi Joshikal were the other members of the team. The team won the gold medal at the 2019 South Asian Games held in Nepal.
In August 2021, Tanvi won her first PSA (Professional Squash Association) Tour title after emerging as champion at the second HCL SRFI Indian Tour squash tournament by defeating Sunaina Kuruvilla in a five-game thriller.
In August 2023, she won the Costa North Coast Open Coffs Harbor defeating Chan Yiwen of Malaysia in the final. This proved to be a remarkable win for Tanvi as she had defeated many top-seeded players like Joshna Chinappa during her rise to the top. In September 2023, she became India’s No. 1 squash player at the age of 29 by surpassing Joshna Chinappa and also achieved a world ranking of 69 as per PSA World Rankings. In an interview, while talking about reaching the number one position in India, he said,
My world ranking went from 96 to 69 in three weeks, and I think these events have helped me gain more confidence in my game for the rest of the season. I hadn’t played Joshna for a few years and it was great to beat her at the Costa North Open – something I’ve been working on for a while. The next target is to break into the top 50 in the world.”
In 2023, she was a member of the Indian women’s national squash team; Joshna Chinappa, Anahat Singh and Deepika Pallikal were the other members of the team. The team won the bronze medal at the 2022 Asian Games held in Hangzhou, China.
