Tanishka is an Indian student who topped the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate) 2022 and became the first candidate from the OBC-NCL (OBC-Non Creamy Layer) category to top the pre-medical entrance examination.

Tanishka was born on Wednesday, 14 September 2005 (age 17 years as of 2022) and hails from Narnaul, Mahendragarh, Haryana. Her zodiac sign is Virgo. She started going to Yaduvanshi Shiksha Niketan, Narnaul when she was in class 2. In an interview, she talked about her studies and said that earlier she was an average student and started pursuing academic excellence when she was in class 8. He passed 12th class. 2022 with 98.6% marks and Class 10 with 96.4% marks. When she was in 11th class, she moved to Kota, Rajasthan to prepare for NEET-UG at Allen Career Institute. Talking about the institute he said,
I have been Allen’s classmate for the last two years. The atmosphere of Kota and Allen’s name were heard a lot. So, I decided to come to Kota to prepare for NEET.
Family
Tanishka’s father Krishna Kumar works as a teacher in a government school. His mother Sarita Kumari is also a teacher in a government school. Tanishka is the eldest among three siblings. He has a brother and a sister. As of 2022, her brother studies in class 3 and her sister is in class 9.

He secured All India Rank (AIR) 1 in NEET-UG 2022 by scoring 715 marks out of 720. His overall percentage was 99.9997733, which was 99.9673008 in Physics, 99.9965997 in Chemistry and 99.9885525 in Biology (Botany and Zoology). The exam was held on 17th July 2022, and the result was declared on 7th September 2022. However, three other NEET candidates, Vatsa Ashish Batra (Delhi), Hrishikesh Nagabhushan Gangule and Rucha Pavashe (Karnataka) scored the same marks as Tanishka. The National Testing Agency (NTA) did not give the first rank to all four jointly. Using its tie-breaker policy, NTA awarded first rank to Tanishka, second rank to Vatsa Ashish Batra, third rank to Hrishikesh Nagabhushan Gangule and AIR 4 to Rucha Pavashe.
Facts/General Knowledge
- Apart from her exceptional performance in NEET UG, Tanishka also performed well in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main, scoring an impressive 99.50 per cent.
- In an interview, he said that he chose to study medicine because “it is a field in which you can establish yourself by helping others.”
- Talking about her future plans in an interview, Tanishka said that she wanted to do MBBS from Delhi AIIMS. She also revealed that she wants to specialize in cardiology, neurology or oncology.
- Tanishka’s grandmother had died of cancer. Tanishka’s mother, while talking about this with a heavy heart in an interview, had said that this incident encouraged Tanishka to become a doctor.
