Lee Jong-suk Aspires To Display A New Aspect Of Himself In “Big Mouth”

Lee Jong-suk, one of Hallyuland’s most beloved performers, is expected to make a triumphant return this month with his noir drama, Big Mouth. Lee Jong-suk plays Park Chang-ho, a third-rate lawyer who finds himself in deep trouble after a criminal case goes badly. He ends up alone in charge of a murder investigation, which overnight transforms him into a brilliant con artist known as “The Big Mouse”. In order to defend his family, he must now uncover a vast conspiracy growing among the privileged upper classes.

When asked about his thoughts on portraying Park Chang-ho, an average lawyer turned genius con artist, Lee Jong-suk revealed:

“He is literally covered in blood, sweat and tears.” He awakens his survival instincts to make a living and survive, creating suspense for Park Chang Ho’s inevitable conflict.”

In Big Mouth, Lee Jong-suk wants to expose a “different aspect” of himself through Park Chang-ho.

When asked about his initial impressions of Park Chang-ho, Lee Jong-suk said that despite seeing him as an average and miserable person, he wanted to help him. However, now that he has finished filming the series, his attitude towards the role has changed.

“Now, instead of coming across as average, I get the impression that Park Chang Ho is quite a powerful character.”

He also believes that fans will be able to relate to Chang-development ho’s and see him mature into a powerful character who would go to any lengths to defend his family. The 32-year-old also talked about the story concept and the character’s intriguing metamorphosis from an average lawyer to a master con artist.

“The irony of an ordinary lawyer accused of being a big fraud was fascinating.”

He’s also curious to see how viewers react to his new persona as an anti-hero who alternates between good and evil.

“I believe that I will be able to portray a new side of myself through the character of Park Chang Ho, who must balance good and evil in order to live.”

Lee Jong-suk claimed that in order to distinguish between the two identities, he tried to separate small aspects such as looks and speech style. He said that although they are the same individuals, they have opposite interests and ambitions.

“I thought about how to show the right emotions for each occasion.”

He also discussed working with director Oh Choong-hwan and what made the deal for him. Lee Jong said he was already close with the director, having collaborated on the 2017 drama While You Were Sleeping, and even invited them to work together on Big Mouth. He added that he had a lot of faith in the director’s instinct and thought it would be a lot of fun to work on this project.
