Murder of Tamara Colbert
On Saturday December 24, 2022Christmas Eve, Tamara Colbert was found dead in the third-floor bathroom of her Pennsylvania home late on Christmas Eve afternoon.
According to the Cumberland County District Attorney’s Office, on December 24, 2022, the Hampden Township Police Department responded to a call for a wellness check. Officers discovered the 39-year-old newlywed dead inside the residence on Wild Orchid Lane in the Enola census-designated place.
He had been shot in the head once. According to police, a blood-covered suicide note was discovered at the crime scene, but no suicide occurred that day. The police officer alleged that Tamara’s husband, Christopher Colbert, killed his wife during a domestic dispute that day.

According to CBS 21 in Harrisburg, Christopher called his father in Florida on Christmas Eve and told him that Tamara had shot herself. His father later told police that his son was “irrational, emotional and didn’t complete sentences,” according to PennLive.
The line went dead and the father tried to reach his son for several minutes. When he couldn’t, he called Hampden Township police, who sent officers to the couple’s home to check on him.
According to PennLive, officers discovered Christopher Colbert sitting in his car inside the garage with alcohol on his breath and blood on his head. According to court documents obtained by the news outlet, a gun was nearby. Additionally, the couple married in February 2022 and had been married for 10 months at the time of the shooting, PennLive reported.

Christopher was charged with simple assault and reckless endangerment at first. However, an autopsy determined that Tamara Colbert’s gunshot wound to the top of the head was the result of a homicide, not a suicide. According to PennLive, the autopsy revealed internal signs of strangulation.
Christopher allegedly wrote on the blood-spattered note found inside the house that he loved no one but his wife. Additionally, Christopher is being held without bail in the Cumberland County Jail. On December 29, 2023, the defendant was arraigned. His next court appearance was scheduled for January 12, 2023, before Judge Kathryn H. Silcox.
He has been charged with criminal homicide, aggravated assault, strangulation, and tampering with physical evidence. According to court records, he was denied bail. It is not clear if he pleaded guilty or hired an attorney to speak for him.
