Sonja Christopher, former contestant from season 1 of Survivor, has died. She was 87 years old.
News of Christopher’s passing was first reported by Liz Wilcox on X (formerly Twitter). Wilcox currently stars on season 46 of Survivor. Along with a photo of the two, Wilcox shared a short message announcing Christopher’s passing.
“Today season one legend Sonja Christopher passed away,” the statement said. “I had the pleasure of meeting her at Christmas. She had a lot of courage and love for Survivor and what the show brought to her life. I hope you’re singing + playing your heart out somewhere beautiful, Sonja.”

‘Survivor’ cast member Sonja Christopher dies at 87
Sonja Christopher made history in Survivor. She was the first contestant to be ejected from season 1. That made her the first person to be ejected from the show.
Christopher was rejected after he made some mistakes that led to his team losing the first week challenge. However, she remained a fan of the show for the rest of her life. She continued to keep up with each new season and its contestants.
Wilcox asks his fans to send donations in lieu of flowers. “No flowers, but donations can be sent to Mt. Diablo Unitarian Universalist Church (Walnut Creek, CA). The San Francisco Bay Area Cancer Support Community. Or the Sjogren Foundation.
