Suzanne Somers received a touching gift from her husband shortly before he passed away and her team is sharing it with the world.
The beloved Company of three The actress sadly passed away at the age of 76 after a decades-long battle with cancer.
After the news broke, a report suggested that her longtime husband, Alan Hamel, gave her a poem he had written for her birthday on October 16 that was “wrapped in her favorite pink peonies.”
Suzanne’s publicist, R. Couri Hay, confirmed the story, saying that he “gave it to her a day before and she read the poem, went to bed and then died peacefully in her sleep.”
They also revealed the complete poem.
Come in to read Alan Hamel’s poem for Suzanne Somers…
“I LOVE IT, I USE IT EVERY DAY, SOMETIMES SEVERAL TIMES A DAY. I USE IT AT THE END OF EMAILS TO MY DEAR FAMILY. I EVEN USE IT IN EMAILS TO CLOSE FRIENDS. I USE IT WHEN I LEAVE THE HOUSE,” Alan wrote in capital letters. The poem was shared with People.
“THERE IS LOVE, THEN I LOVE YOU AND I LOVE YOU!! THERE ARE SOME OF THE DIFFERENT WAYS WE USE LOVE. SOMETIMES I FEEL OBLIGED TO USE LOVE, RESPOND TO SOMEONE WHO SIGNED LOVE IN THEIR EMAIL, WHEN I’M UNCOMFORTABLE TO USE LOVE BUT I USE IT ANYWAY.”
“I ALSO USE LOVE TO DESCRIBE A GREAT FOOD. I USE IT TO EXPRESS WHAT I FEEL ABOUT A NETFLIX SHOW. I USE LOVE A LOT REFERRING TO MY HOUSE, TO MY CAT GLORIA, TO THE THINGS GLORIA DOES, TO THE FLAVOR OF A MELON THAT I GROW IN MY GARDEN. I LOVE THE TASTE OF A FRESHLY HARVESTED ORGANIC JUMBO MEDJOOL ROYAL DATE. I LOVE TO BITE A FIG OFF THE TREE. I LOVE WATCHING TWO GIANT BLACKBIRDLES WHO LIVE NEARBY DIVING OUT MY WINDOW ON A POWER DIVE. MY DAILY LIFE INCLUDES THINGS AND PEOPLE THAT I LOVE AND THINGS AND PEOPLE TO WHOM I AM INDIFFERENT.”
“I COULD CONTINUE AD INFINITUM, BUT YOU UNDERSTAND. WHAT BRAND OF LOVE DO I FEEL FOR MY WIFE SUZANNE? CAN I FIND IT IN ANY OF THE ABOVE? A RESPONSIVE NO!!!! THERE IS NO VERSION OF THE WORD THAT IS APPLICABLE TO SUZANNE AND I EVEN USE THE WORD APPLICABLE CAREFULLY.”
“THE CLOSEST VERSION IN WORDS IS NOT EVEN CLOSE. IT’S NOT EVEN A FRACTION OF A FRACTION OF A FRACTION. UNCONDITIONAL LOVE DOES NOT DO IT. I’LL TAKE A BULLET FOR YOU DON’T. I CRY WHEN I THINK ABOUT MY FEELINGS FOR YOU. FEELINGS… THIS IS GETTING CLOSER, BUT NOT COMPLETELY.”
“55 YEARS TOGETHER, 46 MARRIED AND NOT EVEN ONE HOUR OF SEPARATION FOR 42 OF THOSE YEARS. EVEN THAT DOESN’T DO IT. EVEN GOING TO BED AT 6 O’Clock AND HOLDING HANDS WHILE SLEEPING DOESN’T DO IT. LOOKING AT YOUR BEAUTIFUL FACE WHILE YOU SLEEP DOESN’T DO IT.”
“I WILL RETURN TO THE FEELINGS. THERE ARE NO WORDS. THERE ARE NO ACTIONS. NO PROMISES. NO DECLARATIONS. EVEN THE GREEN EXPERTS AT THE OXFORD UNIVERSITY PRESS IT’S BEEN 150 YEARS AND THEY STILL HAVEN’T BEEN SAYING THAT WORD. SO I WILL CALL IT ‘WE’, UNIQUE, MAGICAL AND INDESCRIBABLY WONDERFUL ‘WE’.”
Suzanne has been remembered by many celebrities following the news of her death. that includes her Step by Step on-screen husband Patrick Duffy.
