Sudhir Mishra is an Indian theater artist, film director and screenwriter. He is known for directing the Hindi films ‘Dharavi’ (1992), ‘Hazaron Khwaishein Aisi’ (2003) and ‘Chameli’ (2004). He is a recipient of National Awards for the Hindi films ‘Main Zinda Hoon’ (1988) and ‘Dharavi’ (1992).

Sudhir Mishra aka Sudhir Bhai Mishra was born on Thursday, 22 January 1959 (age 64 years; as of 2023) in Nagpur, Maharashtra and was brought up by his parents in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India Was. Their zodiac sign is Aquarius.
Later, he pursued undergraduate and postgraduate studies in Psychology at Delhi University, New Delhi.

In 1978, he married Indian actress Sushmita Mukherjee. Both of them got divorced after a few years of marriage.
In 1988, Sudhir married Indian film editor Renu Saluja, who was previously married to Indian film director Vidhu Vinod Chopra. However, Renu died of cancer in 2000.

Facts/General Knowledge
- In his childhood, he used to go to watch movies and theater plays with his father and from there he developed interest in Hindi films.
- After acting in a few theater plays in his college, he realized that he was interested in film direction rather than acting.
- In an interview he told how he debuted in Bollywood. He said,
My friend Vinod Dua was interviewing Vidhu Vinod Chopra for Doordarshan and he asked me to ask questions to Vinod because I knew about films. Seeing my knowledge about films, Vinod asked me to come to Mumbai. He was making his first film at that time and I asked him, ‘What will I do?’ He said, ‘Learn to control the speed.’ I went to Mumbai and met generous people like Kundan Shah, Ketan Mehta, Javed Akhtar and Shekhar Kapur who became my family. Kundan used to come to my house where he started writing Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro and I started writing the script with him.
- He once shared that after his wife’s demise, he was so depressed that he even thought of committing suicide.
- After working in theater under the guidance of Indian theater artist Badal Sarkar, Sudhir moved from Delhi to Pune. In Pune, his brother was a student at the Indian Film and Television Institute. After this Sudhir started learning about acting and films from his brother.
- In 2014, he was fined by the Chandigarh Police for smoking in public places.
- In 2020, amid the COVID-19 lockdown in India, a video went viral on social media in which some policemen were seen beating a man (who resembled Sudhir Mishra) for breaking quarantine guidelines. On this, netizens trolled Sudhir fiercely. However, Sudhir then clarified that the person seen in the video is not him. He tweeted,
I’m quite amazed that people think I would take a beating without reacting. Every tall white haired boy is not me. What surprises me is the glee of the troll brigade. How sick! That coward who takes such a beating is not me, you fools! get a life !”
- Sudhir Mishra is well-versed in different languages like Hindi, English and Urdu.
- He is an avid dog lover and often posts pictures with dogs.
