Price is a cruel man
When Thrawn entered the room, the other officers were surprised to see that he was no longer just an Admiral, but had been promoted to Grand Admiral. Thrawn explains that he was promoted for his victory at Baton. ISB Agent Cullors stated that there were more civilian casualties than rebel casualties, to which Governor Price calmly replied that these casualties were acceptable. This callous response suited Price’s character. She displays her cruelty throughout, even to the point of torturing Hera for her own vengeful pleasure.
Timothy Zahn’s novel further fleshes out Price’s character Thrawn, which reveals the lengths she will go to in order to gain and maintain power. She endlessly climbs the social ladder with no consideration for others. She blew up the fuel tanks of Thrawn’s TIE defenders in an attempt to kill the Rebels out of sheer revenge. Although she knows the TIE Defender project is vital, her frustration with the Rebels means she’s willing to burn everything to satisfy her hatred.

Price bombed civilian homes to cover up murders
exist Thrawn (2017), rebel leader Nightswan takes over Barton’s Creekpath Mining and Refinery, turning it into a rebel stronghold. Grand Admiral Thrawn was sent to quell the rebellion. As a man who dislikes killing unless necessary, Thrawn is determined to end the conflict with as few civilian casualties as possible.
This rebellion, of course, led to the Imperial blockade of the surrounding areas. However, Governor Price’s parents work in Creekpath and they were blocked. In order to save her parents, Price was allowed to work with ISB agent Guidry to find rebel weapons caches. However, she took the opportunity to try to rescue her parents instead of helping Gudry, ultimately betraying and killing him.
Rather than risk getting into trouble for Guidry’s murder, Price does something incredibly selfish: she ignites Night Swan’s stash of dynamite. She then said Gudry was killed in the blast along with many civilians and insurgents in the blast zone. Since this was Thrawn’s attack, he was blamed for the explosion. This angered Thrawn, who then confronted Price. However, she claimed that he needed her because he was politically incompetent and told him that he could not report her. Thrawn reluctantly kept his mouth shut and was promoted for this uncharacteristically callous behavior.
This Changes Thrawn’s Star Wars Rebels Profile
This completely changed Thrawn’s rebels introduce. Thrawn was not satisfied with the civilian casualties. He did his best to avoid them as much as possible. This context transformed Price’s comments that Patton’s civilian death toll was “within acceptable limits” into a power move. She framed Thrawn for the murder of numerous civilians – civilians she killed to avoid facing murder charges. Now, she was proudly and subtly throwing this fact in front of him.
This makes Price more evil than previously thought and reveals that Thrawn isn’t actually who the Rebels thought he was. Yes, Thrawn is willing to take lives, but only when he deems it absolutely necessary. However, when Thrawn was trying to save his life, Imperial brass like Governor Price often tied his hands. Unfortunately, since Thrawn is usually responsible for overseeing battles and making sure plans are carried out smoothly despite the trouble others cause, he is often blamed.
What does this mean for Ahsoka and the Mandalorian movies?
Grand Admiral Thrawn is the main antagonist of the show. Ahsoka. The Mandalorian The film will be the culmination of several series, including Ahsoka. As such, these may all focus in part on Thrawn’s attempts to rebuild the Empire. Given that Zahn has proven that Thrawn actually values civilian life, his empire may be much different than what the New Republic desires.

The Grisk are an alien race who use subtle and insidious means to sow discord and spark civil war to weaken their goals. Once their target is weak enough, they swoop in and take over the planet. Thrawn has good reason to view these aliens as an existential threat. His entire purpose in joining the Empire was to use it to defeat the Grisk. The means he used were questionable, but his intentions were noble.It will be interesting to see how it goes Ahsoka and The Mandalorian The movie deals with this fact.
