Shivansh Thakur’s first championship was the Under-14 National Kabaddi Championship and after completing it he joined the Sports Authority of India hostel for further professional training. In 2017, Shivansh Thakur participated in the 29th Sub Junior National Kabaddi Championship and represented the state of Himachal Pradesh. The championship was held in Jharkhand. In 2022, Shivansh Thakur represented the Himachal Kabaddi team in the Khelo India Youth Games.

In the same year, he represented the Himachal team in the 69th Senior National Kabaddi Championship held in Dadri, Haryana. In the same year, Shivansh made his Pro Kabaddi League debut after being selected by Mumbai-based Kabaddi team ‘U Mumba’ to play in Season 9 of the Pro Kabaddi League. He played 6 matches in his debut season and had a tackle strike rate of 50% throughout the tournament. The team had brought him at a price of Rs 200. 8.78 lakh.

In 2023, Shivansh Thakur was retained by the team ‘U Mumba’ in the season 10 of Pro Kabaddi League and he also managed to win the title of ‘Defender of the Day’ several times in the tournament.
