It was a heated game over who would succeed Tom Brady as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ starting quarterback.
Well, it was just announced today that former first-round NFL draft pick Baker Mayfield won the starting job, beating out 2021 second-round draft pick Kyle Trask.

“Baker is our starting quarterback, Kyle is our No. 2,” head coach Todd Bowles said (via ESPN). “We love everything Kyle has done. And he’s improved by leaps and bounds than he was in the spring and he continues to improve and we’re excited about him. But Baker is our guy right now – he has experience and understands the playbook a little better.”
“Now I just have to lead like I know how, and the real thing is right around the corner,” Baker said. “It’s an exciting time.”
Baker was the No. 1 pick by the Cleveland Browns in 2018. He signed a one-year deal worth up to $8.5 million earlier this year with the Bucs.
Baker went viral a few years ago for a huge accusation that was made.
