Shapoor Mistry began his career by joining his family company Shapoorji Pallonji & Co. Ltd. He looked after the real estate, electromechanical, Forbes group, and Eureka Forbes.
He became the chairman of the 157-year-old engineering and construction conglomerate Shapoorji Pallonji Group and was responsible for overseeing the strategic direction and operations of the group’s various businesses. Moreover, he has been involved in numerous significant projects in India and abroad. His younger brother Cyrus Mistry served as a chairman of Tata Sons for about four years and after that, Shapoor took charge of the $2 billion construction conglomerate SP group. The family’s most valuable asset is an 18.4% interest in Tata Sons, the parent company of the $128 billion in revenue Tata Group. However, Mistry’s career went on a downfall after he suffered a double loss in 2022 when his father Pallonji died in June 2022 and three months later on in September 2022, his younger brother Cyrus died in a car crash. Reportedly, in 2023 Shapoor planned to sell its shares to Afcons Infrastructure Ltd., a Mumbai-based infrastructure-building business.
