Peter Dinklage’s last performance in the musical. cyranus has been lauded as Oscar-worthy. In order not to take anything away from his stellar turn, cyranus it would not have been the success it is without the writing skills of his wife Erica Schmidt.
We have patiently awaited a collaboration between Peter and Erica, and our patience has been rightly rewarded. Soft-spoken Erica is often together with Peter at award shows and celebrity events. Peter is usually the star of the show, but Erica could have outshone him with cyranus.

Peter and Erica met in 2002 and dated for three years before getting engaged. Several months later, the couple reportedly eloped to Las Vegas and got married.
The couple’s first child arrived in 2011. He was mistakenly given the name Zelig, and it even appeared on Wikipedia. Peter said The Guardian, “Let me tell you right now: his name is not Zelig. But it’s funny that that’s a fact on Wikipedia.”
The couple’s second child was born in late 2017. The couple have not announced the name or gender of their 2-year-old baby. Erica and Peter are committed to keeping their personal lives private. Peter, in particular, has gone to great lengths to keep his family away from prying eyes.
In 2012, he moved his family from Manhattan to rural New York to stay away from cameras. Erica spoke with Rolling Stone on the motivation behind the move:
“Even if they don’t recognize him, they think he’s Wee Man from Jackass or they think he’s the guy from In Bruges. So there’s a constant assault.”
Life was easier for the family in upstate New York, but they had to move back because it complicated Erica’s career.
She was part of a group called Laughing Stock and worked as a costume designer.
Erica Schmidt was born on June 8, 1975 in the United States. She was part of the Laughing Stock comedy troupe during her time at Vassar College. Laughing Stock competed with other groups in epic comedic performances on the weekends.
After high school, Erica worked as a costume designer at Julliard. She did it while she was looking for opportunities to make it as an actress.

Schmidt found it difficult to find acting opportunities in New York and, along with a group of struggling actors, decided to try his hand at stage production. According HeavyErica said:
“I was in New York and I was trying to pay my rent and I wanted to work. Everyone she knew was also an unemployed actor, so I thought, let’s make a company, and this time I’ll direct and you’ll act, and next time you’ll direct and I’ll act. But that next time just never came.”
That next time didn’t come because Schmidt discovered that she was an exceptional writer and director. In 2000 she directed to your liking to critical acclaim, and in 2001 won the Princess Grace Award for Theater Directing. Schmidt has an impressive list of stage productions and, in 2009, received a Lucille Lortel Award for Best Solo Show. She collaborated with Peter on the 2019 production of Cyrano de Bergerac. In an interview with The Guardian, Peter referred to Erica as the family artist. He told the publication:
“He loves the theater. Unlike many other people in our profession, where cinema is the ultimate goal, theater is sacred to her. It’s not entertainment, it’s art. She is very inspiring. She is definitely the artist in the family. I’m just the TV actor paying the bills.”
