Early life
About him February 26, 1957, Shaktikanta Das was born in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India. He is of Indian nationality and practices the Hindu religion. Currently, he is 66 years and has a birth sign of Pisces. Similarly, he belongs to the Brahmin caste.

In December 2018, Das was appointed Governor of the Reserve Bank of India, replacing Urjit Patel. As the head of the central bank, he is responsible for overseeing monetary policy, regulating and supervising the financial sector, managing foreign exchange reserves, and maintaining the stability of the Indian rupee.

During his tenure as RBI Governor, he was involved in the implementation of various measures to support the Indian economy and manage the challenges posed by events such as the COVID-19 pandemic. Prior to becoming Governor of the RBI, Das held positions such as India’s representative to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), as well as Secretary of the Department of Economic Affairs and Secretary of the Revenue Department of the Ministry of Finance.
