SEVENTEEN Announced That The8 And Jun Will Not Attend The Asian Artist Awards In Japan

K-pop superstar SEVENTEEN will attend the 2022 Asian Artist Awards in Japan. On the other hand, Pledis Entertainment revealed that the members of THE8 and JUN will not be able to attend the awards. According to the official announcement of this agency:

“JUN and THE 8 members of SEVENTEEN will not be able to attend the “2022 Asia Artist Awards IN JAPAN” due to their personal schedules. Therefore, 11 members will participate in this event.”

The 2022 Awards, which recognize Asian talent in the fields of music, television and film, will be held on December 13 at Nippon Gaishi Hall in Nagoya. THE BOYZ, Stray Kids, ITZY, TREASURE, IVE, Kep1er, LE SSERAFIM and NewJeans were among the other K-pop acts performing at the event. CARATS speculates on the real reason behind SEVENTEEN The8 and Jun’s absence from the upcoming awards ceremony.

After Pledis revealed this on social media, CARATs, the group’s official fans, speculated about the two members’ personal schedules. Since both Jun (Wen Junhui) and The8 (Xu Minghao) are Chinese, people assume that the real reason they missed the event in Japan is because December 13 is Memorial Day in China.

One supporter wrote:

“I guess it’s because December 13 is the official date of the Nanjing Massacre and that’s why I can’t compete in Japan.”

Another fan commented:

“13. December is China’s Nanjing Massacre Memorial Day, the day when entertainment is banned in China and the victims of this war were massacred by the Japanese, so it’s worth visiting Japan. on this day is not appropriate.”

Although fans were disappointed that the group would not be attending the event, the CARATs still praised Pledis Entertainment for taking a sensible move that would otherwise cause problems for the Chinese members.

At LA3C, SEVENTEEN delivered a strong performance.

On December 10, 2022, the thirteen-member K-pop group made history by performing at the first LA3C event, aka Los Angeles, the capital of culture and creativity. The hour-long performance turned into a mini-concert for the band, as they performed some of their best songs to a standing ovation from the CARAT crowd. They performed HOT, Left and Right, Very Nice and the holiday version of the English song Darl+ing.

Fans especially enjoyed the SEVENTEEN leaders’ Cheers performance, in which dance leader Hoshi dazzled the audience with some crazy gestures and lines on stage. Meanwhile, the Don’t Wanna Cry vocalist, along with HYBE president Bang Si-hyuk, received the Cultural Ambassador Award on the opening day of the event.
