Selena Gomez appeared to reference her relationship with Justin Bieber in a new interview.
The “Single Soon” pop star, 31, was linked to the “Baby” hitmaker, and they dated on and off for years until 2018, when Justin rekindled a relationship with wife Hailey Bieber.
Although it has never been confirmed, many fans believe that Selena addressed her final breakup in her first chart-topping single, “Lose You to Love Me,” which arrived the following year. She apparently alluded to the creation of the song in a new interview.

Speaking at the Twilio SIGNAL 2023 conference, Selena referenced how “heartbreak” has inspired her to create new music.
“So when I was going through heartbreak, I immediately wrote my best music and wanted to be there for every woman, man or anyone who was going through that journey,” she said. Elle reported that the comment was in reference to “Lose You to Love Me,” which Selena later called her favorite song.
He also had more to say about creating through pain: “Then there was the kidney transplant that I went through and all these things that may seem like they can bring someone down, I try my best to say at least they’re not alone. and if I keep going, I hope that means someone else can keep going because I don’t want to do it always, but sometimes I want to do it more for them than for me, but I’m a work in progress, and it’s just one. day at a time.”
Selena also addressed “Lose You to Love Me” in her my mind and me documentary film. Elsewhere, he addressed a lyric in the song that many believe is a direct reference to Justin.
