Saurav Kishan is an Indian singer, and he is popularly known as “Chhota Rafi”. He came into limelight by singing the Bollywood song “Teri Aankhon Ke Siva Duniya Mein Rakh Kya Hai” from the Hindi film ‘Chirag’ (1969), which was originally sung by the great Indian singer Mohammed Rafi.

Saurav Kishan was born in 1997 (age 24 years; as of 2021) in Kozhikode, Kerala. He did his schooling at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in Chevayur, Kerala. He enrolled at Xinjiang Medical University in China to study medicine.

He started learning music at the age of 3. His grandfather used to play songs of great Indian singer Mohammed Rafi on his gramophone and Sourav got inclined towards music through these songs.
When he was three and a half years old, he presented his first musical program on Doordarshan. When he was a contestant in the TV singing reality show ‘Gandharva Sangeetham’ in 2008, the late Indian music director Johnson, after listening to his song, realized that Sourav’s voice was very similar to the famous Indian singer Mohammed Rafi and he gave Sourav a chance to sing. music is my passion; I remember when I was 10 years old, I sang in a music reality show, where the late Johnson Master (a music composer who worked in Malayalam cinema) said that my singing was like listening to Chhota Rafi Sahab! I got a chance to sing in Gandharva Sangeetham and after listening to me, Johnson sir asked me to concentrate only on Mohammed Rafi’s songs and named me Chhota Rafi.
He is a versatile singer and can sing many songs like fast songs, patriotic songs, romantic numbers, qawwali, bhajans and classical songs. He has been performing at Mohammed Rafi Foundation events at the Tagore Hall on the Kozhikode beach since he was studying in 12th class. During the coronavirus pandemic in 2020, he returned to India from China. While he was at home, he uploaded a video on his social media account in which he was singing the Hindi song “Teri Aankhon Ke Siva Duniya Mein Rakh Kya Hai” from the Hindi film ‘Chirag’ (1969).
His rendition of Mohammed Rafi’s song was praised by many Indian celebrities like Anand Mahindra, Shankar Mahadevan and NITI Aayog CEO and former Kozhikode collector Amitabh Kant.
