Saket Gokhale is an Indian RTI activist, social worker and former journalist. He is a supporter of the Indian political party Indian National Congress.

Saket Gokhale was born in 1988 (age 33 years; as in 2021) in Nashik, Mumbai. He studied Journalism and Media Studies at Wilson College, Mumbai from 2004 to 2007. In 2008, he joined Trinity College, London. He also studied language teaching at the Prague School in the Czech Republic.

In April 2008, he began working as an English lecturer at Hampson CS SRO in Mladá Boleslav, Czech Republic. In June 2008, he worked as a freelance foreign correspondent for Europe and South Asia. In October 2009, he started working at Debtwire (Financial Times Group) as South Asia correspondent. In April 2014, he joined Flarepath Digital, Mumbai as Head-Brand Content Strategy and worked there for over a year. From July 2015 to February 2017, he worked as Creative Director and Head – Content (Digital Quotient) at HT Media Limited, New Delhi.
After leaving his job in 2017, he started working as an RTI activist and as of 2021, he has filed more than 50 RTIs. Some of his most famous petitions are:
- In April 2019, he filed a PIL in the Supreme Court of India to investigate the undeclared assets of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. His PIL was rejected because it had many flaws. After this he wrote a letter to the Chief Justice of India in which he said that someone in the Supreme Court is trying to protect PM Narendra Modi against the petition filed by him. Some lines from his letter are:
Milord, without going into the minute details of my case or without prejudging it. I simply wish to bring to your kind notice that my writ petition pertains to discrepancies in the details of land properties in Gujarat owned by the Honorable Prime Minister, which were not declared in his election affidavit.
- In 2020, he filed a petition in the Allahabad High Court to stay the bhumi pujan or ground-breaking ceremony for the Ram temple in Ayodhya amid the coronavirus pandemic. They objected to the gathering of 300 people at one place, which was against the social distancing guidelines of the state and central government. Later Allahabad High Court rejected his petition. He then appeared on a news channel to protest against the ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya. According to his tweet, he started receiving death threats on phone from BJP and RSS.
- Saket Gokhale had filed a petition in the Bombay High Court in 2020, in which he had sought direction to the Ministry of Women and Child Development to dismiss Rekha Sharma from the post of chairperson. According to Saket, she was promoting the anti-Muslim theory “Love Jihad”.
- In 2021, he wrote a written complaint letter to the Home Minister of Maharashtra, in which he questioned how Fadnavis obtained Remdesivir stock from Gujarat, when the sale was only for the government. He demanded an FIR against BJP leader and former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis; If he is found guilty. Saket wrote in his letter,
This issue is not only a serious threat to the stability of the Maharashtra government but also an insult to millions of residents of Maharashtra who have been searching and struggling for Remdesivir in the middle of this pandemic, while an opposition party It is being hoarded illegally. ,

Claim [made] Fadnavis’s own plan to donate Remdesivir to the state government appears to be an afterthought and hastily concocted explanation after the illegal purchase of Remdesivir was caught by the Mumbai Police.”

- In 2011, he volunteered as a Management and Restructuring Consultant at Ladakh HILFE/REWA Society, Leh, Ladakh.
- In 2015, his father Suhas Gokhale was arrested for alleged links with drug dealers. On the same day, Suhas retired from his services as a police officer. Almost five years later, in 2019, his name was dropped from the charge sheet as he was found not guilty. On the eve of Father’s Day in 2019, Saketh posted a heartfelt note for his father on his social media account, he wrote,
This Father’s Day, I appeal to all you children to hug your father tightly and tell him how much you appreciate him. Also, if your dad is your hero, please let him know. Because we never say it enough. I want to tell my father that I love him very much. I can neither say this to him nor hug him.
- In 2020, he successfully raised Rs. Rs 22 lakh through a website called ‘Our Democracy’ to counter the BJP’s hate machine. While appealing to the public to raise funds on his Twitter account, he said,
If you think what I do is important enough and worthy of support, please help and contribute. I’m one person and I can’t do it without your support.”
- In December 2020, he complained of chest pain and shortness of breath, which was later diagnosed as mild cardiac arrest.
