When I got married, I decided to come out with the truth about my sexuality. I’m tired of this. I don’t have a place where I can express myself while giving a message to live my life my way and value my feelings. I couldn’t show my true self at home, which was supposed to be the most comfortable place, and I thought I had to be the ideal husband, and it was really painful. But most of all, I hate myself for thinking that this is hard. I wonder why I can’t win against my true self even with so much happiness in front of me, and why I was born this way.
After the divorce, Ryuchel actively supported the LGBT community and participated in various Japanese talk shows to promote LGBT rights in the country. He also played a key role in organizing the Tokyo Rainbow Pride events since 2018. In the last months before her passing, Ryuchel began to express herself as a woman. Ryuchel had also shown support for transgender individuals by holding a transgender flag and making statements; However, he has never publicly declared his transgender identity.

Death
On 12 July 2023, Ryuchel’s manager found him unconscious in the office of a talent agency in the Sasazuka district of Shibuya, Tokyo. Ryuchel was pronounced dead a short time later. According to the Tokyo Metropolitan Police, Ryuchel died of suicide at the age of 27.
