Career
Russell Hodgkinson re-enlisted in the Coast Guard during his service, joining the crew of the USCG Cutter Sassafras in Hawaii in 1986. In 1981, he starred alongside Mercedes McCambridge in the play ‘Harvey’ at the Fort Bragg Playhouse. He studied at a film actor’s workshop in Honolulu during his off hours before being transferred to Long Beach, California, where he met fellow actor Shelley Poncy. He appeared on ‘The Match Game/Hollywood Squares Hour’ from 1983 to 1984.
In 1992, the couple moved to Louisiana, where they eventually became stars of the New Orleans organization. Russell continued his theater career and became very active in the independent film scene after moving to Seattle in 2003. He appeared in Leverage and Grimm before landing the role of “Doc” in the sci-fi original series ‘Z Nation’ in 2014. He starred as Andrew Jackson of the Louisiana Living History Company. He performed at Z Nation alongside Kellita Smith.
