In the same year, she appeared with Rishi Kapoor in JK Bihari’s film ‘Inteha Pyar Ki’. Rukhsar Rehman comes from a conservative Muslim family and her father was not supportive of her working in the film industry, so she came back to Lucknow. After completing her education, she started her own apparel designing business in Lucknow. In 2005, he was offered a role in Ram Gopal Varma’s film ‘Sarkar’. When she heard that she would be acting opposite Amitabh Bachchan, she accepted the role. She returned to the big screen in 2005 with Ram Gopal Varma’s crime drama ‘D’, in which she played Randeep Hooda’s love interest Bhakti Bhatnagar.

In 2020, he starred in his first web series, ‘The Gone Game’. It is a psychological thriller directed by Nikhil Nagesh Bhatt during the lockdown. Its entire shooting was done at the homes of the respective artists. In an interview Rukhsar said,
I was apprehensive about shooting from home. However, my husband and daughter convinced me to take this step. It was a taxing process, but we had a lot of fun.”
It was renewed for a second season which premiered on July 7, 2022. Rukhsar became a popular face after this series. In 2023, he played the role of ‘Mrinal Singh’ in the series ‘The Night Manager’.

Rukhsar Rehman made her television debut in 2009 with the show Bhaskar Bharti, where she plays a fitness freak. From 2011–2013, she appeared in the recurring role of Dr. Mallika Trehan in the TV show, Kuch To Log Kahenge. In 2013, she appeared in the Life OK channel show ‘Tumhari Pakhi’. In 2014, she played the role of the lead character’s mother in the show ‘Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya’. In the same year, she appeared in an episode of the show ‘Adaalat’ and ‘Savdhaan India’.
