Ritu Negi was born on Wednesday, 30 December 1992 (age 31 years; as of 2023) in Sharog village of Shillai area of ​​Transgiri region of Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh. During 10th grade, his Kabaddi coach from school took him for selection trials at the Sports Authority of India in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, where he got selected. There he trained for 9 years. He won two gold medals at the Junior Nationals for Sports Authority of India and 5 bronze medals at the Senior Nationals for Himachal Pradesh. In 2011, he was selected as the captain of the Indian junior team and won the gold medal.

South Central Railway

Ritu Negi caught the attention of some senior coaches in A-grade tournaments; He impressed him with his skills and performance, so he directly offered him a job in Indian Railways.
