Renuka Singh was first elected as MLA from Ramanuj Nagar assembly of Surguja division in 2003. She was re-elected MLA from Premnagar constituency in 2008. During his tenure, he served as the Minister of State with independent charge and also held the post of Vice Chairman of Surguja Development Authority. Renuka Singh had lost to senior Congress leader Khelsai Singh in the 2013 assembly elections. However, in the 2019 general election, he again contested against Khelsai Singh and won by a margin of 1,57,873 votes. She was appointed as the Union Minister of State in the Ministry of Tribal Affairs on 30 May 2019, holding the post till 7 December 2023.
