In September 2018, during the shooting of the film ‘Imsai Arasan 24 Am Pulikesi’, Vadivelu had a dispute with filmmaker Chimbu Deven over his costume designer, a sequel to the 2006 film ‘Imsai Arasan 23 Am Pulikesi’ . The actor left the project midway after which filmmaker S. Shankar and Subaskaran Alliraja filed a complaint against him with the Tamil Nadu Film Producers Council (TFPC) for his non-cooperative attitude. The Producers Council initially asked Vadivelu to either resume shooting or pay a compensation of Rs 9 crore to the producers. However, the actor refused to agree to any option following which the Producers Council imposed a temporary ban on casting him in Tamil films.
