Lucy Letby Case

From June 2015 to July 2016, many infant babies suddenly started dying at the Countess of Chester Hospital, and Ravi Jayaram was the first to complain the same to the hospital authorities. He, along with his colleagues, complained against neonatal nurse Lucy Letby. However, Lucy was clever, and they could not catch her at first. During the initial investigations, Ravi Jayaram was asked by the hospital to say sorry to her as they did not find any clue against her. Later, more babies got sick under the supervision of Lucy, and this kept happening. In April 2017, doctors were allowed to talk to a police officer by the National Health Service (NHS). After that, the police began looking into the strange deaths. Lucy Letby was arrested in July 2018 and charged with a crime in November 2020.

According to the media reports, Lucy Letby made some babies sick by giving them insulin and air in their blood. She also tried hurting more babies by giving them too much milk through tubes. This made them get sick all of a sudden without any reason. On 21 August 2023, she was given a punishment by the Manchester Crown Court.
