Sudanese-American journalist Rahel Solomon is the chief Business News reporter for CNBC. Solomon, a former morning news anchor for CBS 3 in Philadelphia, will join CNBC in March 2019. Rahel worked as an intern in CNN’s Special Investigations Unit in Washington, DC. He is also a member of Investigative Reporters and Editors and the National Organization of Black Journalists.

Rahel Solomon’s career

At Philadelphia’s NBC 10 WCAU-TV, Solomon worked as a production assistant before beginning his career as a reporter. Rahel’s first chance came from some of her friends who worked there and were impressed by her work. She has experience as a cross-platform reporter for WSAZ-TV in Charleston, West Virginia. Before joining the CBS3 News team in Philadelphia, she worked for two years with the Witness News Team at KCNC-TV in Denver, Colorado.

One of Solomon’s first assignments after returning to Philadelphia was the groundbreaking ceremony for the Divine Loraine Hotel. Jim Donovan, Katie Fehlinger and Meisha Johnson, who have embraced her with open arms, make up her journalistic family and she enjoys working with all of them. Rahel is best known for covering the 2014 Colorado floods and the 2014 Aurora movie theater murder case against James Eagan Holmes.

In 2015, she was named Broadcast Journalist of the Year by the Colorado Association of Black Journalists. Solomon loves spicy food, especially spicy fries, and she and co-host Jim Donovan participated in the ‘Paqui One Chip Challenge’ in 2017. In 2017, around 30,000 athletes participated. When she competed, she organized the Philadelphia Marathon after working with a coach. Rahel loves to travel and has been in many European countries during her studies. The Explore the World initiative helped her train in Paris, Rome and Salamanca.
