Television personality and cook Rachael Ray is known for her ear-to-ear smile and fast food, but she also knows how to shake hands. Ray recently revealed that before fame, she played the unwitting role of ATM for a teenage mugger, not once but twice, right outside her Queens apartment.
“He literally has a Glock in his hand and he sticks it in my back, and I scream really loud. They heard it in Jersey… I got scared and I think I scared him more than he scared me,” she told the newspaper. New York Post.

Ray took care of Liza, the superintendent’s dog, confined by a chain in the laundry room. She often fed the young dog, an act that paid off when the dog possibly saved her life from a mugger who returned days later.
“The boy came back to assault me a second time because he was angry,” Ray recalled of the teenage assailant who she previously implied was not a threat. “He pushed me down this little alley, and Liza ran down the hallway toward him and scared him. He was petrified by the dog,” she explained.

After the boyfriend saga and robberies between armed teenagers, Ray said goodbye to New York and returned to his roots in Glens Falls, upstate New York.
