Pro-Palestinian Protesters Riot at Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

The protesters jumped over the barricades and stuck to the parade route.

The annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade was temporarily delayed when a group of 30 pro-Palestinian protesters jumped over barricades and hit the pavement of the parade route in New York City.

Initially, protesters were protesting on Sixth Avenue, but some of them broke the barricades and continued the protest down 49th Street.

In multiple videos posted online, protesters were heard chanting: “No more nickels, not one more penny, no more money for Israel’s crimes” and “Free and free Palestine.” They also held Palestinian flags and papers that said “genocide then, genocide now.”

A little later some protesters were heard shouting: “Long live Palestine.”

According to the authorities, all protesters were arrested.

President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden phoned to express their gratitude during the parade and encouraged Americans to “come together.”

“We have to remind ourselves how blessed we are to live in the greatest nation on the face of the earth,” the president said. “Today is about coming together and giving thanks for this country we call home. And thank you to all the firefighters, police, first responders and our troops, some of whom are stationed overseas.”

The ongoing conflict in the Middle East continues to divide the nation. In a series of stories, celebrities including Jamie Lee Curtis, Melissa Barrera and Dave Chapelle have faced backlash for their outspoken comments about the ongoing war. Former Obama administration official Stuart Seldowitz is also making headlines after he was arrested and charged with a hate crime for harassing someone he thought supported Hamas on camera.

Our hearts break for those involved in any way in the war. This is by far the busiest Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade since its debut in 1927.
