Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and their mother Doria Ragland were involved in a “nearly catastrophic car chase” last night after the Ms. Women of Vision Foundation Awards 2023where the Duchess was awarded one of the Women of Vision Awards.
A spokesperson for the couple issued a statement explaining what happened.

A spokesperson shared with Variety“Last night, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and Ms. Ragland were involved in a near catastrophic car chase at the hands of a very aggressive paparazzi ring. This relentless pursuit, which lasted for more than two hours, resulted in multiple near collisions involving other drivers on the road, pedestrians, and two NYPD officers. While there is a level of public interest in being a public figure, it should never come at the cost of anyone’s safety.”
“The dissemination of these images, given the way in which they were obtained, encourages a highly intrusive and dangerous practice for all involved,” the spokesperson continued.
Security has always been a big issue for the Duke and Duchess. Footage of them being photographed and receiving extreme media attention was included in their Netflix documentary series. Prince Harry’s mother, Princess Diana, was involved in a fatal car accident as a result of a paparazzi chase.
