In a GQ retrospective, casting director Carmen Cuba and director and executive producer Andrew Haigh explained that there wasn’t much pressure to cast “bigger names” or highlight only queer talent.
While reflecting on the construction of the cast, Carmen said: “Pedro Pascal was someone we knew [for a role on Looking] and from there I put narcos.”
They didn’t say exactly what happened or what role he was prepared for. However, Carmen hinted at what could have led to him not being chosen.
“Pedro’s thing was like he was trying a million things. A lot of these things, as you know, in casting, it’s like programming. Does the programming work? The group? Because in this we were really selecting a group,” they explained.
Have you seen there have been conversations about rebooting? Looking again?
