Netflix will launch the new series One day in early 2024 and author David Nicholls opens up about the new adaptation of his book.
One day It was already turned into a movie back in 2011 starring Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess and now it will be a limited series of 14 episodes.
The series tells the story of Emma Morley and Dexter Mayhew who, on July 15, 1988, the night of their graduation, speak for the first time. The next morning, they go their separate ways, but where will they be on this day of the next year, and the year after that, and all the years after that? Each episode finds Dex and Em, a year older, on this particular date, as they grow and change, come together and part, experience joy and heartbreak.
Ambika Mod and Leo Woodall star in the series, which premieres February 8, 2024.

“I knew from the beginning that I didn’t want to write it myself,” David said. E.W. about the decision to have Nicole Taylor adapt the book for television.
He added: “I spent a lot of time with it. I felt like I needed a fresh set of eyes, but it’s been a blessing. Of course we’ve cut things. We have had to condense things. So there are still editorial decisions to be made, but I am very happy with the process and it has been an incredibly enjoyable experience.”
David said: “The premise of the novel was that it should be like looking at a photograph album in the same way that a photograph captures a moment in time, that these days are little vignettes of what you were like at that moment. So that was very much the intention of the show, to have them age.
However, the biggest change is that “There is a lot more sex in this than in the novel. “I tend to fade to black and Nicole doesn’t fade to black… Adaptation means change.”
