Suchetna Bhattacharjee was born in 1982 (age 41 years; as of 2023) in Kolkata, West Bengal. He did his schooling at Path Bhawan, Kolkata, West Bengal. He earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Presidency University, Kolkata, West Bengal. While she was in college, she was associated with the Students Federation of India (SFI) at Presidency University in Kolkata. However, he did not continue his involvement in politics. In an interview, she had said that it is not necessary for her to be a part of politics just because she is the daughter of Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee. After completing college, she became socially active and actively spread awareness about various environmental issues. She organized the Aranyak Wildlife Film Festival in Nandan every year, where nature and wildlife films were shown for four days. In an interview, she expressed her passion towards saving the environment and mentioned that she aspires to work as a zookeeper.

Since 2014, he is in a relationship with Suchanda Mukherjee, who is a media professional. In an interview, she mentioned that her partner is a heterosexual man, and she was often questioned as to why she lived with a transgender man. Talking about his partner in an interview, he said,
We have been friends since our primary school days. She has been supportive and protective. In 2004 we realized that we were more than friends. Marriage is not a priority. The workshop titled ‘Story of the Pride Month’ was organized by the People’s Relief Committee, and the announcement was shared by Suprabha Roy, convener of the Democratic Association of LGBTQIA+. It was reported that Suchetana planned to undergo a gender reassignment operation and adopt the name “Suchetan”. He initiated the legal process and obtained the necessary certificates for the process. In an interview, he revealed that he had identified himself as a man since his Montessori days and said that, at 41, he is capable of making his own decisions. He also revealed that his father knew about his identity since childhood. In an interview he said,
I am in the middle of a medical transition. The legal process will start soon. But my gender is still ‘female’ in my voter ID, Aadhar card and PAN card. I should be addressed as Suchetan Bhattacharjee alias Suchetana Bhattacharjee.”

Controversy
In 2013, West Bengal Industries Minister Partha Chatterjee had accused Suchetna of running an NGO and taking financial benefits from it. Chatterjee also alleged that he received financial assistance from Tata to support his organization. The allegations came after Suchetana’s father Buddhadeb in an interview expressed doubts over the honesty of Mamata Banerjee and suggested an independent investigation into the financial condition of her family. This caused a stir in the political circles of Bengal, as it was unusual for any politician to openly question the integrity of Mamata Banerjee, especially on television. Regarding the allegations, Suchetna clarified that he had run an organization working on wildlife films from 2004 to 2007. He said that his organization never received any government funding, and he personally did not benefit financially from it. He talked about this in an interview and said,
I am sure that the present state government has all the records and information about this organization and the government is free to conduct any investigation to uncover the truth which I am telling now. Trinamool Congress leaders and ministers are spreading false propaganda involving me and Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee and I also want to clarify that I have never accepted any financial assistance from Tata. This is an absolutely false statement that is being made by the ministers and leaders of Trinamool Congress and I am sure that these leaders do not have any document or evidence to justify their allegations against me.

- During her childhood, she had a tomboyish appearance and preferred to dress in a more masculine style with a boy-cut hairstyle. However, he did not face any difficulties in school or college as his friends and teachers supported his choice. When she visited her father’s office, many people often addressed him as “Dada”. In an interview, he revealed that some educated persons questioned his sexuality.

- In 2011, a case was reported where a girl named Paromeeta had allegedly duped flat owners in Mumbai by falsely claiming to be the daughter of West Bengal CM Buddhadeb Bhattacharya. Claiming herself to be the CM’s daughter, she rented a flat in Jogeshwari, Mumbai in 2007. On the basis of this false claim the owner agreed to rent the flat to him. According to the flat owners, Paromeeta lived with them for three years and kept demanding money from them. He showed them fake Income Tax Department documents and claimed that his house was raided and Rs. Rs 29 crore were seized. He also asked to borrow money from his daughter. Took a personal loan of Rs 15 lakh. 20 lakhs from his son. Talking about this incident in an interview, his son Sanjeev said,
I work in retail and earn Rs 60,000 per month. But after the loan he took in my name, I got only Rs 2,000 in my hand. She had signed an agreement in which she agreed to pay monthly instalments. But he stopped the payment in February 2010. He also maxed out my credit card limit. He also sold his flat in Malad for Rs 40 lakh, whereas its price was Rs 40 lakh. 70 lakhs. In November 2010, she told them she was suffering from cancer and would have to leave. He cheated the money. Rs 2.8 crore from him. They filed a case against Parimaeta with the Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) for cheating.
- In 2021, Suchetna’s aunt Ira Basu received her pension order from the Khardah School Inspector (DI), twelve years after her retirement from a government school. In an interview, Suchetana mentioned that she was named as the recipient of her aunt’s pension, but expressed reluctance to accept her properties. In the interview he said,
