Producer Once Spoken About ‘Controversial Perspective’ of OJ Simpson Movie ‘The Juice’

In 2018, PEOPLE posted photos of Boris Kodjoe’s first look as OJ Simpson in the film, The juice.

At the time, PEOPLE reported that the film was about the tumultuous relationship between OJ and Nicole, as well as the murders of Nicole and her friend Ron.

Speaking about Kodjoe’s role as Simpson, Stephen Small, one of the film’s producers, shared: “Boris is the same height as OJ, very tall and a very athletic presence. He transformed, his voice changed, it sounds pretty amazing.”

Small then talked about the casting process. “It was important to find actors who had a physical resemblance to the characters.”

The producer noted that the new Simpsons movie will have a different and possibly controversial perspective on the athlete’s involvement in the murders.

“We’re telling the truth,” Small explained. “It is based on factual evidence: the true story from court documents, witness interviews and trial testimony.”

“We felt there was an injustice. Many people forget that the man was acquitted. 12 jurors determined that he did not commit the murders, but if you talk to anyone, 10 out of 10 people on the street will say, ‘He did it.’”
