In 2019, Nitish Kumar was included in the Indian Kabaddi team for the 13th South Asian Games held in Kathmandu and Pokhara, Nepal. The Indian Kabaddi team won the gold medal by defeating Sri Lanka by the score of 51-18.
In 2023, Nitish Kumar became a part of the Indian Kabaddi team that participated in the 19th Asian Games held in Hangzhou, China. The team won the gold medal by defeating Iran in the final by a score of 33–29.

The following year, he was retained by the team for Season 6 of the Pro Kabaddi League, in which he played 25 matches and earned 100 tackle points.
In 2019, Nitish was again retained by the team and was appointed captain of team ‘UP Yoddha’ in Season 7 of PKL, in which he played a total of 22 matches and scored a total of 77 tackle points.
Nitesh’s partnership with team ‘UP Yoddha’ lasted through seasons 8 and 9 of the Pro Kabaddi League.
He was again retained by the team in Season 10 of the Pro Kabaddi League, in which he played a total of 14 matches and earned 35 tackle points with a 100% raid strike rate and 49% tackle strike rate.
