Nejam, also known as Deborah Samantha, was born in 2000 (age 23 years; as of 2023) in Chennai. She studied in a school in Delhi. I never wore sleeveless as a child because I was very insecure about my keloid scars. Even while getting my school uniform stitched, I made sure to get it with full sleeves. I was very embarrassed by how horrible and big the scar was. When we lived in Delhi, we studied in this private school. I was in second class then, I had participated in a play and my dress revealed this mark. Oh man! As if being a dark-skinned Tamil girl in a rich people’s private school wasn’t already bad enough, when the kids who used to bully me saw that scar, it became a nightmare. I remember a girl sitting next to me going ‘EW!’ Was saying.
