One of the five victims shot at the University of Virginia on Sunday, November 13, 2022, was a former Baton Rouge High School football player. Mike Hollins, winner of the Warrick Dunn Award in 2018 as WAFB Sportsline Athlete of the Year, has been recognized as a player by a college coach. Three people were killed and two others injured in a shooting at the University of Virginia, according to reports. While Mike was one of the survivors, the deceased victims were named by authorities as D’Sean Perry, Lavel Davis and Devin Chandler.
All five victims were members of the University of Virginia football team. Mike Hollins was shot twice and had to undergo surgery once. He will be allowed a few days to recover before undergoing another procedure.

Mike Hollins details come to light in University of Virginia shooting
Hollins is a University of Virginia student known for her unbreakable high school record. In 2017 and 2018, he led his team to consecutive 3A state championships. Mike was also named MVP of the 2018 state championship game after dashing 27 times over 237 yards and four touchdowns. He also has 54 career runs and 197 receptions. In Virginia’s last three games, juniors also rushed 200 yards.
He also received the Sanford B. Prater Football Scholarship for 2022-2023. The college student’s athletic enthusiasm is immediately evident through his Twitter account, which is filled with messages about sports, especially football. According to the university’s website, Hollins is running back for the varsity soccer team.
His Instagram name is now disabled or his account has been deleted.
According to University of Virginia officials, Hollins’ family was en route from Baton Rouge to Virginia to be with him after the incident. Hollins’ father told the Washington Post that when the athlete was injured, the bullet miraculously slipped into his stomach.
Students and residents across the country who have received the news are hoping for a speedy recovery for the surviving students. Former assistant athletic director of the school Mike said:
“The university’s lab school prays for the full recovery of former student-athlete Michael Hollins and his teammates, and mourns the loss of three deceased victims. in the tragedy of last night.” Our hearts go out to Mike, his family and loved ones of all the victims.”
The university is temporarily closed while authorities investigate the incident.
