Michael Strahan’s daughter Isabella will undergo her second craniotomy in five months. Isabella detailed the terrifying procedure in an online vlog.
He said his anxiety about the surgery had increased. She didn’t like the prospect of someone messing with her head.
“I’m actually very nervous. “I’m more nervous about this because it’s not my brain they’re playing with, it’s not that deep… but I’m curious what recovery would be like,” she said. “I’m not excited… at all. In fact, I’m a little nervous.”
Still, he hasn’t let the surgery affect his mood. “Hooray. How lucky I am to have another brain surgery,” she said. After the surgery, Isabella talked about how things went.
He said doctors opened his head at the level of the scar to drain the fluid. They also replaced the bone that was cut from his skull. Isabella has a little way to go to recover. She admitted that she was in a lot of pain.
“I feel a lot of pain… and this sucks. Before I felt so much pain that I was like screaming. This is not fun,” she said. “I hope this is what caused all my fevers and the reason I was in the hospital for a week. So I hope I can go home soon after I recover from this. But I don’t feel at my best.”
Isabella details the road to recovery
“My face is so swollen it’s crazy. “I feel really bad and I didn’t expect to come out with this head wrap,” she said. “I feel a lot of pain. Stinks. “I was a lot more high on my first surgery because it was more invasive.”
Previously, doctors performed brain surgery to remove a tumor. Isabella has been battling brain cancer and has been receiving chemotherapy. However, she began to have a high fever after the initial surgery.
After surgery, Isabella was grateful to still be able to walk and talk. She was also happy that the surgery did not require operating on her brain again.
“It’s no fun having your head split open,” he continued. “It’s not fun, but I’m so glad I can still walk and talk and they didn’t touch my brain because doing it again would be very, very difficult and I don’t think I can do it… could Do it, but it would be hard again.”
It will take time for Isabella to fully recover.
